In order to maximize your financial aid eligibility we highly recommend that you file well before the priority deadline of March 1st, 2026.  Anyone who files after the deadline will potentially miss out on any institutional aid.

Additional Information

  • October 2025 - Sign up for your FSA ID if you have not yet created one
  • January 2026 - *Financial aid awarding begins for incoming students
  • March 1, 2026 - PSU priority filing deadline. Students are encouraged to file their FAFSA before this date to ensure they maximize their financial aid eligibility.
  • April 2026 - *Financial aid awarding begins for returning and graduate students.

  • Every contributor鈥攁nyone (you, your spouse, a biological or adoptive parent, or your parent's spouse) who's required to provide information on the FAFSA form鈥攏eeds a StudentAid.gov account before accessing and completing their section of the online form. We recommend you and your contributor(s)  before starting your FAFSA form. When you create your account, be careful to enter your name and Social Security number (SSN) exactly as they appear on your Social Security card. You and your contributors can access the StudentAid.gov accounts by using your account usernames and passwords.

  • Note: Parent and spouse contributors without an SSN can create a StudentAid.gov account to fill out their portion of your FAFSA form online.

To start the online FAFSA form, select 鈥淪tart New Form.鈥 You鈥檒l be taken to the 鈥淟og In鈥 page to enter your account username and password. After logging in, you鈥檒l be given the option to select your applicable role to fill out the FAFSA form: 鈥淪tudent鈥 or 鈥淧arent.鈥 You (the student) should select 鈥淪tudent.鈥 If a parent wants to start their dependent child鈥檚 FAFSA form, they should select the 鈥淧arent鈥 option.

You might need the following information or documents as you fill out the FAFSA form:

  • Tax returns

  • Records of child support received

  • Current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts

  • Net worth of investments, businesses, and farms

  • Your parent鈥檚 SSN if they have an SSN and you鈥檙e a  (for the 2026鈥2027 FAFSA form only)
